Privacy Policy

What the BEV Discord bot and bevbotdiscord.com collect, why they need it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated 22 October 2026. The rules for using BEV are in our Terms of Service.

The short version

  • BEV only stores what its features need, and most of it is linked to your Discord user ID and the server you used BEV in.
  • We don't sell your data or use it for ads. The website counts visits without tracking you: no cookies for it, and nothing about you is stored.
  • A few features send what you type to outside services, such as translations and AI answers.
  • You can delete some of your data yourself, and ask us to show you or delete the rest.

1. Who we are

BEV is a Discord bot, and bevbotdiscord.com is its website. This policy covers both. "We" and "us" mean the people who run BEV. To contact us, join the BEV Discord and open a ticket.

2. What BEV stores

BEV only stores what it needs for the features a server has switched on. Most of it is linked to Discord IDs, the numbers Discord gives every user, server, channel and role.

  • Server settings. Which features are on, and the channels, roles, messages and lists a server's admins chose. This includes the IDs of messages BEV looks after, like role menus and starboard posts.
  • Levels, coins and games. Your XP, level, coins (wallet and bank), items, daily streaks, cooldowns and lottery tickets, kept separately for each server.
  • Activity counts. How many messages you send and how many minutes you spend in voice each day. BEV counts your messages but doesn't save what they say. These counts power activity stats, voice XP and the weekly top chatter role.
  • Moderation records. Warnings, timeouts, kicks, bans and other cases, with the reason and the moderator who took the action. Also timers for temporary bans, roles and jail, the roles you had when you were jailed or left the server (so they can be given back), and who invited you to the server.
  • Tickets and modmail. Which ticket channel or modmail thread belongs to whom. The messages themselves stay in Discord. When you message BEV to contact a server's staff (modmail), BEV passes your messages on to a private thread that the server's staff can read.
  • Things you send through BEV. Suggestions, confessions, staff applications, polls and votes, reminders, your AFK message (and your old nickname, so BEV can put it back), giveaway and event sign-ups, LFG posts and tournament teams.
  • Things you tell BEV about yourself. Your birthday (day and month only, never the year) and your time zone, if you set them. They're saved once for your whole account, so every server you're in that uses BEV's birthday feature will celebrate your birthday, and other members can see what time it is for you with /time.
  • Usage limits. How many /ask questions you've asked each day, so daily limits work. Not the questions themselves.
  • Server backups. If a server uses backups, a copy of its channels, roles and permissions. Backups don't include messages, but they can include the names and IDs of members who have their own permissions on a channel.

Some features also remember small details to work properly, such as who counted last in the counting game.

3. What BEV reads but doesn't keep

To run its features, BEV reads messages in the channels it can see. It uses them to catch spam, scam links, blocked words and unwanted links, to run counting and auto-replies, to notice AFK mentions and server bumps, to pass on modmail and to give XP. It doesn't save message content, except where this policy says so.

  • /snipe. BEV keeps the last 10 deleted messages in each channel in its memory for up to 2 hours, so /snipe can show them. They're never saved to the database, and they're gone whenever BEV restarts.
  • /ask follow-ups. While the buttons on an /ask answer are active (up to 15 minutes), BEV keeps your last couple of questions and answers in its memory, so it can follow the conversation. They're never saved.
  • Server logs. If a server turns on logs, BEV posts things like edited and deleted messages, joins and leaves, role changes and voice activity in that server's log channel. Those posts are kept by Discord in that server, not by BEV.
  • Picture cards. Welcome and rank cards are made from your name and avatar when they're needed, and aren't saved.

4. Anonymous confessions

Confessions are anonymous to other members. BEV still stores who wrote each one, and if a server has set up a private staff log, its staff can see who wrote what. This is so admins can deal with abuse.

5. The shared raider blocklist

Servers can switch on BEV's Shared Raider Blocklist. If a server has also chosen to share its bans, and it bans someone with a reason that mentions raiding, spam, scams, phishing, nuking or bots, BEV adds that account's ID, the ban reason and the server's ID to a list shared with every BEV server that uses the blocklist.

Those servers may be warned when that account joins, or have BEV kick or ban it automatically. If you think you've been added by mistake, contact us and we'll look into it.

6. The website

Signing in with Discord

When you sign in, Discord shares your basic profile, such as your user ID, username and avatar, and the list of servers you're in with your permissions there. We only keep your ID, name and avatar, in your sign-in cookie. We use the server list only to show the servers you manage and to check that you're allowed to open their dashboards. It isn't stored: it's kept in memory for about a minute so pages load quickly. We never see your password or email address.

Cookies

The website uses three cookies for signing in, and one more if you close the announcement banner. It has no advertising or tracking cookies.

  • bev_session keeps you signed in. It's encrypted and holds your Discord ID, name, avatar and a Discord access token. It's deleted after 2 hours or when you sign out, and signing out also cancels the access token with Discord.
  • bev_state is a random code used for 10 minutes while you sign in, to block fake sign-in links.
  • bev_in only says that you're signed in, so the top bar shows the right buttons.
  • bev_banner remembers which announcement banner you closed, so it stays closed. It holds only a short code for that banner and lasts a year.

Saved in your browser

The dashboard remembers the last server you opened (bev_last_guild) in your browser's storage. If you're one of the website's admins, the top bar also remembers that for the open tab (bev_admin), so the Admin tab appears straight away. Both stay on your device.

Visit counts

The website counts how many times each page is opened each day, and how many of those were new visits from another website, an app or a typed address. It doesn't use cookies for this, and it doesn't store your IP address or anything else about you: only the page, the day and the totals. Known bots and the website's admins aren't counted, and only the website's admins can see the numbers.

Website admins

A few Discord accounts run the website. When one of them turns maintenance mode or the announcement banner on or off, their Discord name and ID are saved with the change, so the other admins can see who made it.

Dashboard changes

When you save changes on the dashboard, they're sent to BEV along with your Discord name and ID. When you switch a feature on or off, BEV may post that in the server's log channel with your name, so the other admins can see who changed what.

Public leaderboards

If a server's admins make its leaderboard public, anyone with the link can see its members' display names, avatars, levels, XP and coins on bevbotdiscord.com.

Hosting and fonts

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which handles visitors' IP addresses and request details to deliver the site and protect it from attacks. The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser also connects to Google.

7. Outside services

BEV and its website rely on these services. Each one has its own privacy policy.

  • Discord carries everything BEV does.
  • Render runs the bot and stores its database.
  • Cloudflare hosts bevbotdiscord.com and stores the website's settings and daily visit totals.
  • MyMemory (by Translated) gets the text you ask BEV to translate.
  • Anthropic gets the questions you ask with /ask, plus the server's name and the last couple of questions and answers in that conversation, so its AI can write the answer.
  • Open-Meteo gets the place you look up with /weather.
  • Tracker Network gets the platform and player name you look up with /rl-stats.
  • Google Fonts provides the website's fonts.

BEV also reads public information from Twitch, YouTube, Kick, TikTok, Reddit and news feeds (for alerts a server sets up), GamerPower (free games), the Open Trivia Database (trivia), SomaFM and Radio Paradise (radio) and public lists of scam links. It doesn't send them anything about you.

If BEV Premium is offered, Discord handles the payments. We only find out whether you or your server has Premium, never your payment details.

These services may handle data in other countries, including the United States.

8. How we use your data

Only to run BEV's features, keep servers safe, stop abuse and fix problems. We don't sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except as this policy describes or when the law requires it.

9. Who can see it

  • Members of a server can see what BEV shows in that server, such as levels, leaderboards, giveaways and suggestions.
  • A server's admins and moderators can see its moderation records, logs, applications and tickets, and who wrote each confession if they've set up the staff log.
  • The people who run BEV can access its database to run the bot, fix problems and answer your requests.

10. How long we keep it

  • Some data is deleted automatically: reminders once they're sent, LFG posts once they close, timers for temporary roles, bans and jail once they end, saved roles once they're given back, and a server's oldest backups once it has more than 10.
  • Data you remove yourself (see below) is deleted straight away.
  • Everything else, such as XP, coins, moderation records, activity counts, suggestions, confessions and applications, is kept until it's deleted, even if BEV is removed from the server. Ask us and we'll delete it.
  • Website sign-in cookies end after 2 hours, or sooner when you sign out. The banner cookie lasts a year.
  • Daily visit totals are kept so the admins can compare over time. They contain nothing about any visitor.

11. Your choices and rights

You can delete some data yourself:

  • /my-data shows everything BEV stores about you in a server, and lets you delete your levels and coins, your activity counts, your birthday, your time zone and your reminders.
  • /my-birthday removes your birthday.
  • /time removes your time zone.
  • /remind cancels your reminders.
  • The buttons on giveaways, events and polls let you leave them or take back your vote.

Server admins can reset members' XP and coins with /manage-xp and /manage-coins.

For anything else, open a ticket in the BEV Discord to ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted. We may ask you to show that the account is yours. Server owners can also ask us to delete all of their server's data.

Depending on where you live, for example in the UK or the EU, data protection law gives you rights over your data. These include seeing it, correcting it, having it deleted and objecting to how it's used. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to your data protection authority. In the UK, that's the Information Commissioner's Office.

12. Keeping data safe

BEV's database is stored with Render, and only the people who run BEV can reach it. The website keeps your sign-in in an encrypted cookie, and the connection between the website and the bot is protected by a secret key. No system is perfectly secure, though, so we can't promise that data will never be lost or accessed without permission.

13. Children

You need to be old enough to use Discord to use BEV (at least 13 in most countries). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger. If you think we have, contact us and we'll delete it.

14. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page, and we'll announce bigger changes in the BEV Discord.

15. Contact
